What Elon Musk says about Aliens

The desire for human significance in a vast, forgetful cosmos has always driven alien dreams: we want to be seen so we know we exist. What distinguishes the alien fantasy from religion, nationalism, or conspiracy theory is that it does not place humans at the center of a grand tale. It eliminates with them: Humans become, for a brief moment, major players in an almost inconceivable scale drama, the lasting lesson of which is, unfortunately, that we’re total nobodies.

Does Aliens exist?

UFOs have been seen around the world which somehow proves that there are extraterrestrial living beings and they are interested in knowing earth like us who want to explore the Universe and know more about it. There are numerous visits from aliens, who arrived long before we could; if humans are the ones making first contact, we’re the advanced ones, and the aliens are probably more like productive pond scum, which may be why we fantasize about those kinds of encounters a lot less than visits to Earth. Of course, we’re the pond scum when the aliens are the explorers.

What do modern people think?

A lot of people in the modern world will take that bargain, which should not come as a surprise given how dizzying, secular, and, um, alienating that world is. Most conspiracy theory is motivated by a desire to see the universe as ultimately understandable — the deal being that things can make sense, but only if you believe in pervasive totalitarian malice.
